U-turnity ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through the U-turnity app and website, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have.
1.1 Who we are
U-turnity is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME / FOUNDER NAME], based in Belgium. For any privacy-related question, you can contact us at talktous.uturn@gmail.com.
The registered legal entity name still needs to be filled in before launch.
1.2 What data we collect
- Account data: your name, email address, and profile photo (if you sign in with Apple or Google).
- Contacts: with your explicit permission, we access your phone's contact list so you can invite friends to a U-turn. We do not store your full contact list on our servers beyond what's needed to match and invite the people you select.
- Event data: the U-turns you create or join, including title, location, date/time, and the list of people you invite or who respond.
- Communications: messages you send us directly (e.g. through the contact form on our website).
- Usage data: basic technical information such as device type, app version, and general usage patterns, used to fix bugs and improve the app.
1.3 Why we collect it (legal basis)
- To create and manage your account (performance of a contract).
- To let you create, send, and respond to U-turn invitations (performance of a contract).
- To access your contact list, only after you grant permission (consent — you can withdraw this at any time in your phone's settings).
- To respond to messages sent through our contact form (legitimate interest / consent).
- To improve the app and fix issues (legitimate interest).
1.4 Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers who help us run U-turnity, under data processing agreements:
- Apple / Google — for sign-in authentication.
- Our email delivery provider (Resend) — to send transactional emails, such as contact form messages.
- Our hosting provider — to host the app and website.
We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of U-turnity, our users, or the public.
1.5 How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to keep certain records longer.
1.6 Your rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. contact list access), without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données) if you believe your rights have been violated.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at talktous.uturn@gmail.com.
1.7 Children's privacy
U-turnity is intended for users aged 16 and older, in line with the app's App Store age rating. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
1.8 International data transfers
Where data is processed by service providers located outside the EU/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data in line with GDPR requirements.
1.9 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate, through the app or by email.
